Metra UP-NW trains moving again after car struck near Palatine; extensive delays expected
Metra Union Pacific-Northwest trains are moving again after an outbound train struck a vehicle near Palatine Wednesday afternoon.
Metra tweeted that UP-NW train #629 was scheduled is stopped near Palatine after striking the vehicle. More information about what kind of vehicle was struck and whether anyone was inside at the time was not immediately available.
Trains started moving again just before 4 p.m. Inbound vehicles are operating 35 to 45 minutes behind schedule as a result of the stoppage, Metra officials said. Extensive outbound delay are also expected, but Metra has not said how long they are.
