Live Renewable Energy Monitor At Rhodes Elementary School
A wind turbine that produces renewable energy for Rhodes Elementary School in River Grove was working overtime during a wind storm in the Chicago area on Oct. 26 and 27, 2010. John Mertes, director of technology at Rhodes elementary school in River Grove says in the year and a half since the school installed a wind turbine, they've never seen it like this. The turbine produced record amounts of energy for the school and at one point, the turbine was spinning so fast, that a circuit breaker had to kick in and shut down the blades to prevent damage.
