Live Like A Gangster: Al Capone's Home Is For Sale
By Mason Johnson
A house recently put up for sale in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood looks like any other red, brick-built structure you'll see across the city, but this 2-flat is special -- it belonged to Al Capone.
Yes, the home that the infamous gangster Al Capone lived in is on the market. For a measly $225,000, you could own a piece of Chicago history.
Not to be confused with his Miami or his Wisconsin homes, this is the house the Capone family moved into when they came to Chicago in August of 1923. Frank Capone's (Al's brother) funeral was even held there.
[EDIT 10/24 2:00 PM CT: In a previous version of this article, it was stated that Al Capone's funeral was held in this home, which is incorrect.]
Imagine how much the home's value would skyrocket if a famous gangster happened to be haunting the place.
The unedited description of the home on RE/MAX Signature Homes' website reads: "This was AL CAPONES Chicago Home WOW there are 3 bedrooms on each floor 1st floor was rehabbed in 2008 with new kitchen there is even a jacuzzi tub in bath 2nd. floor has hardwood floors both units have enclosed back porch 2 car garage newer windows full basement with lots of different rooms..."
If you've ever wanted to be visited by Capone's ghost while in a jacuzzi, this is your chance.
