Hunt For Jobs Goes On For Many

CHICAGO (WBBM) -- It has been more than a year since the recession officially ended, but for many, the hunt for a job goes on.

As WBBM Newsradio 780's John Hultman reports, economists say the number of jobs is increasing, but unemployment will still top 9 percent for the foreseeable future.

The Chicago Tribune reports many people were unprepared for the severe impact the downturn had on entire industries.

Mesirow Financial Chief Economist Diane Swonk says a further complication is once things improve, a million people who gave up looking will start looking again.

Some tips – don't stop looking during the holidays, network at every opportunity to make contacts, and stay flexible and available.
