Heavy Storms Roll Into South Suburbs

(CBS/STMW) -- Flash flood and severe storm warnings are in effect in the south suburbs and northwest Indiana as a second wave of rainfall rolls into the area Sunday.

The storm warning for Will County and Lake County, Ind., was initially slated to last until 4:15 p.m. but was extended to 4:45 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The flash flood warning, set at 4 p.m., is in place for both counties until 10 p.m. Sunday. The weather service warned that fairgrounds have a heightened danger of flooding.

The storms could bring 70-mph winds and half-dollar-sized hail, forecasters said.

Most of the area south of Interstate 80 is under a severe storm watch until 8 p.m.

A Tornado Warning has been issued for Jasper and Porter counties in northwestern Indiana.
