Hawks choose winger Hayes, trade 30th pick

The NHL Draft started Friday evening and the Blackhawks has the 24th and 30th overall pick. In the First Round, the team focused on acquiring prospects. Their 24th pick landed the Blackhawks with winger Kevin Hayes from Nobles & Greenough High School (Mass.). This right winger stands 6ft 2in tall, weight 201lbs and had 25 goals and 42 in 28 games last season. After finishing his senior season, Hays is expected to play at Boston college.
The Blackhawks then traded their 30th pick to New York in exchange for the 35th and 58th picks. New York selected Brock Nelson with the newly acquired 30th pick. The Edmonton Oilers were fortunate enough to get the top overall pick and went with left wing Taylor Hall of Windsor of the Ontario Hockey League.
