Halloween Lights On Top Of Mulch Start Fire

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. (STMW) - Residents of a northwest suburban home got more of a Halloween scare than they were expecting on Sunday night when some Halloween lights that were set too on the mulch next to a started a fire outside the home.

The fire happened about 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, according to a report from Buffalo Grove police.

Police and fire personnel responded to a report of a Halloween decoration on fire against the exterior of a home on the 100 Block of Woodstone Drive, the report said.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. Fire personnel stated that the fire came from decorative lights on the mulch next to the home. There appeared to be no damage to the house and no one was at home at the time of the fire, according to the report.
