Halftime Report

The Bears run game came alive in the first half getting the most rushing yards since 1998 in a quarter.  Matt Forte has 131 yards in the game which comes close to matching his year total coming into the game (134).  It does seem the Bears have made a very smart adjustement in short yardage and that is using Chester Taylor in those situations.

The Bears defense has frustrated Jimmy Clausen and turned him over.  The only problem is that Todd Collins has been equally bad.  He's 5 for 11 for 26 yards and 3 picks.  At the half, he has a 12.9 rating.

You wonder if at some point, Lovie Smith is going to be content and put the reigns on Mike Martz.  The screen pass at the end of the half was ill-advised and could've cost the Bears.

Carolina will get the ball in the second half and the Panthers are OUT of replay challenges.
