River North gas station reopens after morning shootout 01:41

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A shootout occurred outside of a gas station during an attempted armed robbery in River North Saturday morning.

Around 10:14 a.m., a 48-year-old man was at a fueling station in the 700 block of North Wells Street, when a gray vehicle parked next to him.

Police say someone in the gray car opened a door of the victim's Land Rover and started grabbing things inside.

The driver of the Land Rover confronted the suspect - and that's when police say the shooting started. Police say gunfire was exchanged - but they haven't said who shot first - or how many shots were fired.

No injuries were reported.

The suspects in the gray car were last seen fleeing eastbound from the location.

CBS 2's Noel Brennan spoke with two employees at the gas station who were inside the convenience store at the time. They say they heard at least one gunshot, and a pierced window is the only damage to the store.

Area Three detectives are investigating.
