Getting Help

Carlos Zambrano will go on the Restricted List and not be back with the Club until after the All Star Break....if at all. Jim Hendry did the smart thing and diffused an already bad situation in essence getting rid of a headache for at least a few weeks.

Zambrano will be paid while being evaluated by Doctors. Hendry wasn't able to say what kind of Doctors due to privacy laws but you can almost guarantee that the medical staff will include shrinks of some sorts. Zambrano has had anger issues in the past and he will finally get the help that Major League Baseball and the Players Union will make available.

Hendry likely told Zambrano and his agent that the Cub's clubhouse is united that they will no longer put up with Zambrano's antics. Publically this is the umpteenth time that Zambrano has embarrassed and upset his team mates and it has happened even more then that privately.

The worst thing ball players can do is showcase their anger and frustration towards their team mates. You saw it on Tampa Bay with BJ Upton and Evan Longoria and it was on full display between Zambrano and Derrek Lee in the Cubs dugout last Friday.

Hendry might use the next three weeks to see if there is any way he can unload Zambrano but that's highly unlikely so Zambrano will then have to come back and grovel to his team mates and see if they will take him back.
