Former WIU Student Pleads Guilty To Bomb Threats

PEORIA, Ill. (AP) - A former Western Illinois University student faces up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to making bomb threats at the school last year.

The U.S. Department of Justice said Tuesday that 18-year-old Cameron McKoy of Chicago pleaded guilty Monday in federal court in Peoria to one count of making a hoax bomb threat. He is being held until his sentencing on Aug. 8. He could also be fined up to $250,000.

According to his indictment McKoy made nine separate bomb threats by telephone between Oct. 25 and Nov.11. The first call was made to a freshman dormitory followed by a series of automated calls.

McKoy was arrested Nov. 16.
