Five Wounded In Shootings Across City
CHICAGO (STMW) - At least five people were wounded in separate shootings around the city late Friday and early Saturday.
A 34-year-old man was shot in the abdomen area about 9:20 p.m. Friday while riding a bicycle in the 3900 block of West 24th Street, police said. He was taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
The man was approached by a passing vehicle, words were exchanged with a person inside and the front passenger began firing a handgun at him, police said. The vehicle then took off in an unidentified direction.
About 11 p.m. Friday, an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg while standing outside in the 11300 of South Forrestville Avenue. He as taken to Roseland Community Hospital in "stable" condition.
At 12:18 a.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in the back in the 600 block of South Ashland Avenue and was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in "stable" condition.
A female of an unknown age was grazed in the leg in the 5100 block of South Calumet Avenue about 1:45 a.m. and was taken in good condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center.
About 2:30 a.m., a 29-year-old man was in the 1500 block of North Lorel Avenue when shots were fired from a passing car and he was struck in the chest, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said. He was taken in "stable" condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
No one is in custody in connection with any of the shootings. Detectives are investigating.
