UPDATE: Inmate Accidentally Released From Kankakee Detention Center Taken Back Into Custody
CHICAGO (CBS)-- An inmate, who was mistakenly released from the Jerome Combs Detention Center in Kankakee Friday, was taken into custody Saturday in Lincolnwood.
Anees Ahmed Usmani, 41, was discharged instead of another inmate around 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 18, according to the Kankakee County Sheriff's Office. He was being held on drug-related offenses.
"We are continuing to investigate the incident to determine what mistakes were made and why," Kankakee County Sheriff Mike Downey said.
