Illinois driving instructor convicted of sexually assaulting student after skipping trial
A former driving instructor has been convicted of sexually assaulting one of his students several times in 2021, after he failed to show up for his trial last week.
Paul Bocska, 58, was found guilty of four counts of criminal sexual assault and 12 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's office.
Bocska failed to show up for his jury trial on April 17, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. His trial went on in his absence, and a jury convicted him on all counts.
Prosecutors said, on multiple occasions in April and May of 2021, Bocska sexually assaulted an underage student. He was released from custody after his arrest in May 2023 after posting bail.
His next court date has been set for June 4, and the arrest warrant against him remains active.
