DCFS Investigating Death Of 7-Month-Old Boy In Auburn Gresham

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The state Department of Children and Family Services is investigating the death of a 7-month-old boy Tuesday afternoon in the South Side Auburn Gresham neighborhood.

The baby was found unresponsive at his home at 2:07 p.m. in the 7700 block of South Racine, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:56 p.m., authorities said. An autopsy Wednesday did not rule on his cause and manner of death pending further investigation.

DCFS is investigating the boy's death, according to an agency spokeswoman. The agency has not had prior contact with the family.
