2 killed, 3 injured in crash on Kennedy Expressway in Chicago's West Loop

Two people were killed early Sunday morning in a crash on the Kennedy Expressway in Chicago's West Loop.

At 1:46 a.m., Illinois State Police were called to the southbound Kennedy at Randolph Street for a two-vehicle crash.

A car was stopped in the lanes of traffic for reasons unknown when it was hit by another car headed in the same direction, state police said.

A total of five people in that first stationary car, and one from the car that hit it, were injured, state police said.

Two of those five people died. One of the victims was identified as 23-year-old Nadinah Cunnings. The second person has yet to be identified as of Monday afternoon. 

Around 1:58 a.m., all lanes of the inbound Kennedy closed for a crash investigation.

All lanes reopened around 7:30 a.m.
