Chicago's Best Golf Courses

If you have a passion for putting, want to test out your new driver, or just like long greens and heavy bunkers, golf heaven might be as close as your own back yard.  These are the top 5 public golf courses in Chicagoland.

1. Pine Meadow Golf Course, Mundelein.

With 35 acres of fairways and 220,000 square feet of tees and greens, this course is great for all skill levels.  Oaks, tall pines, maples and shagbark hickories border the fairways making it a picturesque golf experience. It was ranked as one of the Top 25 Courses in Illinois in 2006, 2007, and 2008.

2. Harborside International Golf Center, Chicago.

Located just 16 minutes outside downtown Chicago, it is the self-proclaimed "Chicago Course".  It's home to both the Port and Starboard courses with distances from 7,166 yards to 5,110.  Harborside models the links tradition and the elevated tees and greens offer breathtaking views of Chicago's skyline. Golf Week rated Harborside America's "Third Best Municipal Golf Course."

3. Cog Hill Golf & Country Club, Lemont.

Cog Hill boasts four regulation courses including "DUBSDREAD." Nationally ranked since 1964, "DUBSDREAD" has heavily bunkered greens and is the most challenging of the four courses.  It's located less than 30 minutes southwest of downtown Chicago.  Along with the driving range/learning center, restaurant and patio, there's also a 280 seat banquet hall within the historic clubhouse.

4. St. Andrews Golf & Country Club, West Chicago.

The St. Andrews course is a flat terrain course with long greens and a water hazard running along the fairway on the right side.  The Joe Jemsek championship course measures 6,770 yards with hilly terrain.  It was named a Golf Digest Places to Play 4 Star Award Winner!

5. Seven Bridges Golf Club, Woodridge.

Holes seven through nine have be affectionately deemed The Calm before the Storm, signifying that the tranquility of the front nine is nothing like the fervor of the back.  Poseidon, or the back nine, is characterized by its many water hazards.  The Unlimited Twilight Package and Corporate Pass Program offer amenities usually found in private clubs.
