Chicago weather: Storm threat overnight through Tuesday
Tuesday evening remains very warm and breezy with temperatures holding in the 60s and southwest wind gusts to 30 mph. Scattered thunderstorms are expected between 10 PM and 4 AM, with a few of them becoming severe, with large hail the main threat.
Tuesday brings a more widespread round of storms, especially during the afternoon and evening.
After a warm, humid start with temperatures pushing well into the 70s, a strong cold front sweeps through mid to late afternoon. That will trigger another round of scattered storms, some potentially severe—again with hail and damaging winds the main concerns, with the highest severe risk south of I-80. Behind the front, temperatures fall fast with a sharp wind shift to the north and northeast.
