Chicago police warn of string of armed robberies in Bronzeville

Chicago police this weekend issued a warning about a string of armed robberies in the city's Bronzeville community.

There have been three robberies since Thursday, Aug. 6. In each, police said a group of three men and a woman walk up to a victim and take the victim's phone at gunpoint.

The robbers have ordered the victims to unlock their cellphones, and have fled on foot after taking the phones.

Two robberies happened in the 400 block of East 32nd Street in the Lake Meadows Apartments complex — the first at 10:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, the second at 11:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14.

The third robbery also happened around 11:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, in the 3000 block of South State Street.

Police said the robbers were wearing hooded sweatshirts.
