"Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story": Hallmark movie features Chicago Bears coach, players

Lake Forest rolled out the red carpet on Tuesday for the premiere of "Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story," the Hallmark movie featuring Bears players and coach Ben Johnson, which was filmed this summer in Chicago.

Quarterback Caleb Williams, tight end Colston Loveland, and mascot Staley Da Bear were among the Bears stars on hand for the red carpet premiere at Gorton Center on Tuesday night.

Starring Lyndsy Fonseca, Marsha Mason, and Robert Buckley, the movie follows Avery, a freelance reporter who returns to Chicago to spend Christmas with her family before her next assignment.

But she ends up finding a feel-good story to profile a beloved Bears fan, Darlene, who's getting ready to attend her 500th game.

Sparks fly when Avery connects with Darlene's handsome firefighter grandson, Matt, who shows her what being part of Bears nation is all about.

Their time together leads to Christmas adventures through Chicago and romantic sparks, along with places like Soldier Field and Halas Hall as backdrops.

It was filmed over the summer in Chicago and, in addition to cameos from Williams, Loveland, and Staley features appearances from tight end Cole Kmet and head coach Ben Johnson, as well as former players Dan Hampton, Charles Tillman, and Mike Singletary.

"It's actually really rare to shoot a movie in the place that you're making the movie about. So, to make a movie about Chicago in Chicago was an absolute treat. I think this movie is literally a love letter to Chicago, to the Bears, to the people of Chicago. It was an absolute honor," Fonseca said.

The movie airs on Hallmark Channel on Saturday.
