2-year-old among 5 injured when car crashes into Chipotle on Southwest Side of Chicago

Five people, including a toddler, were injured when an elderly man crashed a car into a Chipotle restaurant on Saturday afternoon in the West Elsdon neighborhood on the Southwest Side of Chicago.

Police said, shortly before 2 p.m., a 96-year-old man was driving a 2007 Hyundai Sonata in the 5300 block of South Pulaski Road, when he suffered a medical emergency which prevented him from stopping the car before crashing into a Chipotle restaurant.

Four men and a 2-year-old boy inside the restaurant suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Hyundai was not injured but was taken to the hospital for observation.

Police said no traffic citations had been issued as of Saturday evening.
