Harris: Bulls' fans who don't want LeBron James: Read this
by Adam Harris
LeBron James fever is taking over Chicago, yet I still hear Bulls fans question whether they really want LeBron or if they want other free agents available.
Some worry that LeBron will hurt Derrick Rose's development, others say LeBron isn't mature enough and doesn't play hard all the time, and I even hear it said that signing a player like Chris Bosh and a mid-level free agent would make the Bulls a better team than if they had LeBron.
Let me put this speculation and questioning to an end right now. If LeBron James is on the market and considering the Bulls as a potential option, that is the man the fans want.
LeBron is there for the taking, and if aquired can propel an average basketball team to the best team in the conference. Signing LeBron can restore a Bulls dynasty that the likes of Jordan and Pippen once built. Bulls fans should not settle for anything less than the best player in the NBA if he is available because the Bulls are an elite franchise. LeBron is available and everything looks good on paper, it just seems to be up to the management to pull the trigger and not take another way out with a couple of mid-level free agents.
Any Bulls fan who doesn't want LeBron James needs to understand that signing Chris Bosh and a mid-level free agent would not put the Bulls in guaranteed contention for the NBA Championship. Whoever gets LeBron, whether it be the Bulls or Miami or even the Nets would make them a title contender.
Let's not forget what LeBron did in the '07 playoffs with a Cavaliers team whose starting lineup was Drew Gooden, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Daniel Gibson, and Sasha Pavlovic with Larry Hughes and Donyell Marshall as key contributers. Remember when that Cavaliers team was down 0-2 against the Detroit Pistons in the Conference Finals and won four straight to go to the finals? Remember game 5 of that series where LeBron scored 29 of his team's last 30 points to win in Detroit and basically clinch the series by himself?
That is what LeBron James can do, take over a game and win it by himself. Not only can he score at will, but he is a better passer than a scorer so those worried about him messing up Derrick Rose's game need not worry. Rose will get his touches, and LeBron will get his points, assists, and rebounds with a point guard who can finish at the rim, unlike any other player LeBron has ever played with in his career.
The guy Bulls fan's should want is LeBron James, and anyone who thinks different needs to really think about what kind of player he is and go back and read this over and over till you rid yourself of the NBA insanity that surrounds your life.
All the speculation about him throwing games against Boston this past postseason because he wanted to leave Cleveland or that he didn't play like himself in the final two games because he found out his teammate Delante West was having an affair with LeBron's mom (Gloria James) is not fact. LeBron is a competitor and all he wants to do is win.
LeBron is set up to do just that here in Chicago, all that is left is this management group (Paxson/Forman) needing to step up and pull the trigger, bottom line.
