Blackhawks Trade Bollig To Flames For Third Round Draft Pick

(CBS) -- The Chicago Blackhawks have traded Brandon Bollig to the Calgary Flames in exchange for the 83rd overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.

Bollig scored seven goals and seven assists in 82 regular season games last year for the Hawks, his third with the team. He also recorded a goal and an assist in the playoffs last year.

The Blackhawks drafted Matheson Iacopelli, 20, with the third round pick acquired from Calgary. The 6'2 right winger from Woodhaven, Michigan had 41 goals and 23 assists in 58 games last season with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL.

The Blackhawks picked again in the third round and selected left winger Beau Starrett, 18, with the 88th overall pick. Starret, from Bellingham, Massachusetts, scored 11 goals and 36 assists last season with the South Shore Kings in the USHL.

In the fourth round, the Blackhawks selected Frederik Olofsson, 18, a left winger from Sweden. Olofsson played 24 games last year with the Chicago Steel of the USHL and scored four goals and 11 assists.

The Blackhawks had two selections in the fifth round, drafting American defenseman Luc Snuggerud and Swedish defenseman Andreas Soderberg. Snuggerud ranked second in points on the Eden Prairie High School team and was awarded with the 2014 Reed Larson Award, given to the best high school defenseman in Minnesota.

Soderberg, 18 played with both Sweden's Skelleftea Jr. and Skelleftea U18 clubs, where he scored one goal and five assists in 36 games with Sweden's Skelleftea Jr. and one goal and two assists with Skelleftea U18 in 12 games.

In the sixth round, the Blackhawks drafted American center Dylan Sikura, 18, and Russian goalie Ivan Nalimov, 19. Sikura was second on the OHL's Aurora Tigers with 64 points.

Nalimov posted a 5-7 record, 2.84 goals-against average and .894 save percentage in 12 games with Russia's SKA St. Petersburg

With their final pick of the draft, the Blackhawks took American right winger Jack Ramsey, 18, in the seventh round. He scored nine goals and 16 assists in 57 games with the Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Hockey League. His father, Mike Ramsey, played for the 1980 U.S. Men's Olympic Hockey Team that famously defeated the Soviet Union on their way to winning the gold medal.
