Blackhawks Need To Finish Games To Finish Season In Playoffs

If the playoffs were to end today the Chicago Blackhawks would be packing up their gear and trying to put the 2010-11 season behind them.

But the season isn't over, and the solution to the Blackhawks problem isn't too complicated.

"We just need to find ways to finish games," Blackhawks winger Troy Brouwer said. "And we have to find ways to do it in a hurry."

A perfect example of the team's inability to finish games came last Friday in Dallas. The Blackhawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period, but ended up losing the game 4-3 in a shootout. And as devastating as that loss was, it wasn't the first time it's happened this season.

"We've had, I think, 12 games this season heading into the third period when we were either tied or a goal a head only to come away without any points," Brouwer said.

And Brouwer continued to explain, the Blackhawks would be battling for fourth place in the Western Conference if they had won half of those 12 games.

So for the Blackhawks, it's not a situation that they can't dig themselves out of, but it won't be easy.

"We know we're a good team," Brouwer said.

Now all the Blackhawks need to do is prove that they're a good team for 60 minutes.
