Bears Re-Sign LB Sam Acho

(CBS) The Bears have re-signed linebacker Sam Acho, two days after they cut him in a move to best structure their roster for Sunday's loss to the Packers in their season opener.

Acho, 27, has been suffering from an illness lately, though the Bears have been vague in giving specifics. Chicago coach John Fox did say last Friday that Acho has been "getting better every day."

Acho had five tackles and two sacks in the two preseason games he played in. He figures to have an important role on special teams for the Bears.

In a corresponding move Monday, the Bears placed defensive end Cornelius Washington on season-ending injured reserve. He suffered a right quad strain Sunday.
