Bears' Kevin Byard, Drew Dalman, and Joe Thuney earn 2026 Pro Bowl selections

Three Chicago Bears players have been named to the 2026 NFC Pro Bowl roster: safety Kevin Byard III, center Drew Dalman, and left guard Joe Thuney.

It's the fourth straight Pro Bowl selection for Thuney, Byard's third selection overall, and Dalman's first time making the Pro Bowl.

Dalman and Thuney have anchored a revamped Bears offensive line and a dramatic improvement in pass protection and a rejuvenated rushing attack.

Quarterback Caleb Williams was sacked a league-high 68 times in 2024, but after Dalman, Thuney, and right guard Jonah Jackson were added to the offensive line in the offseason, Williams has been sacked only 23 times in 15 games, tied for fifth fewest sacks allowed in the NFL.

The Bears also have the second-best rushing offense in the NFL this season, with 2,281 yards so far this year, after finishing the 2024 season ranked 25th in the league in rushing yards.

Both Thuney and Dalman stayed humble about their selection to the Pro Bowl.

"It's such a big operation, it takes all of us. So I always feel weird winning individual awards, because it's a team game. But very humbled and excited by it still," Thuney said.

Dalman said he's "grateful and appreciative" for his first Pro Bowl nod.

"If I'm being honest, an individual award for O-line play feels a little silly, because I just, I mean, I rely on those guys every single play all the time. We're always working in conjunction with each other. So I give all the credit in the world to those guys. Playing next to them has helped me so much," he said.

On the same day he also received the Jeff Dickerson Good Guy Award for best helping the media do their job, now-three-time Pro Bowler Byard – who leads the NFL with six interceptions – lamented the Pro Bowl snub for cornerback Nahshon Wright.

Wright leads the NFL with eight takeaways – including three fumble recoveries, the most in the league, and five interceptions, second-best in the NFL. Wright also led the fan vote for the NFC at cornerback.

Byard said he told Nahshon Wright, who leads the NFL in takeaways, to not sweat the pro bowl snub because he believes Wright has a 1st team all-pro honor coming his way after the season.

Quarterback Caleb Williams, running back D'Andre Swift, right tackle Darnell Wright, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, safety Jaquan Brisker, punter Tory Taylor, return specialist Devin Duvernay, and special teams specialist Josh Blackwell also led in fan voting at their positions, but did not earn Pro Bowl selections.

Pro Bowl selections are determined by a combination of votes from fans, players, and coaches, with each group's vote counting for one-third of the total.

The Bears won't release their first injury report for their Week 17 matchup with the 49ers until Wednesday. However, wide receivers Luther Burden III and Rome Odunze and cornerback CJ Gardner-Johnson weren't on the practice field on Tuesday.

Johnson described Gardner-Johnson's knee injury as something they're working through this week. He didn't have much an update on Odunze, who has missed the past three games, other than saying, "he's going to be able to help us this year."
