Baseball America Rates SS Gleyber Torres As Cubs' New Top Prospect

(CBS) The Cubs rookie class of Kris Bryant, Addison Russell, Kyle Schwarber and Jorge Soler crashed onto the scene in 2015, but their quick rise and stellar play leaves another question for fans.

Who's next in the pipeline from the farm system?

Well, Baseball America is here to help. The publication released an updated team-by-team prospect list Friday following the conclusion of the 2015 season. Shortstop Gleyber Torres, 18, is now ranked as the Cubs' top prospect. He spent almost all of 2015 at low Class-A South Bend, where he hit .293 with three homers, 62 RBIs, 22 stolen bases and a .739 OPS in 119 games.

Here's a look at the Cubs' top 10 prospects, as rated by Baseball America:

1. SS Gleyber Torres
2. C Willson Contreras
3. OF/2B Ian Happ
4. RHP Duane Underwood
5. RHP Dylan Cease
6. OF Albert Almora
7. OF Billy McKinney

Left off the list with right-hander Pierce Johnson, who's not as highly touted after a 2015 season in which he dealt with a lat injury.
