A Chance to Really Put The Pressure On The Sharks

Jonathan Toews said he went back to the hotel after game one and watched the hilites and felt that the Sharks outplayed the Hawks.  What Toews is forgetting is that he was watching a San Jose station and they tilted the highlights in the Shark's favor. But Toews was correct in saying that he thought that the Hawks have a lot of room for improvement. They definitely have to cut down on the shots that Antii Niemi faces. If San Jose gets 45 shots again in game two the likelihood is that they will put more then one puck past him. The Hawks also must draw some penalties. Of course it was ludicrous that they had no power play opportunities in Game 1 but they still can do more to insure that the refs blow the whistle. And Joel Quenneville is correct when he said the first 10 minutes of Game 2 will be key because you know that the Sharks will come out like a house on fire and be very desperate to score first.

Besides the look ahead towards Game 2, various players looked back at the regime of Dale Tallon as General Manager. Earlier in the day it was announced that Tallon was  leaving the Hawks organization to become the General Manager of the Florida Panthers. Besides having the good weather to improve his already good golf game, it will give Tallon a chance to build another winning team. Make no mistake about it, Tallon's hand prints are all over the Hawks. There is hardly a player on the current roster that he didn't either draft or trade for. And the various players who are still close with him couldn't have been happier for his new job.
