2 Wounded In Related South Chicago Shootings

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police were questioning a "person of interest" after two people were wounded during two related shootings in the South Chicago neighborhood late Tuesday.

A 23-year-old man was shot in the arm in the 2700 block of East 87th Street when gunfire first erupted about 10:49 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

Just one minute later and about three blocks away, bullets hit a 21-year-old man in his arm and neck as he stood on a porch at East 88th Street and South Escanaba Avenue, said Gaines

The two shootings were related and a person of interest was being questioned early Wednesday, said Gaines, who offered few other details.

The 21-year-old was listed in "stable" condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said. The 23-year-old was also in "stable" condition at an area hospital.

Area South detectives are investigating.
