CHICAGO (CBS) - Police Wednesday are looking for a gunman who shot and wounded two people in the Northwest Side's Avondale neighborhood.

Around 8:43 p.m. Tuesday, two teenagers were traveling in a vehicle in the 3200 block of North Monticello Avenue just north of Belmont Avenue, when someone opened fire, police said. The gunman was standing on the sidewalk.

One of the victims, a 16-year-old boy, was shot in the head and was hospitalized in critical condition. The other, an 18-year-old man, suffered a graze wound to the arm and was reported in fair condition.

Both victims were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

Following the shooting, police vehicles closed off the area near the Belmont Blue Line subway stop, near Kimball Avenue a short distance to the east.
