2 Killed, 11 Wounded In Overnight Shootings

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men were killed and 11 others wounded in shootings across the city since Thursday night.

A man was found slumped over in the driver's seat of a car after he was shot to death Thursday night in the Washington Heights neighborhood, police said.

After he was shot, the man apparently lost control of the car, drove over a curb and crashed into a planter, police said.

Police found the 25-year-old unresponsive behind the wheel, authorities said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office did not release the man's name early Friday because his family had not yet been notified, an official said.

Another man was shot and killed Thursday night near his West Pullman home.

Dequantay Bingmon, 29, was riding a bike in the 0-100 block of East 120th Place about 8:45 p.m. when a shooter walked up and opened fire, authorities said.

Bingmon, of the 1200 block of South Michigan, was shot in the chest and back, police said. He was dead on the scene.

The most recent shooting happened a few minutes after midnight in the West Pullman neighborhood.

Two men were in a gray Chevrolet Impala in the 800 block of West 122nd Street when bullets started to fly, police said.

One man, 19, was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with gunshot wounds to his head, back and both legs, police said. Another man, 18, was shot in the arm and listed in "stable" condition at MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island.

The first shooting of the evening happened about 7:15 p.m. Thursday, when two men were shot while at a stoplight in the South Side Calumet Heights neighborhood.

The men were in the 8700 block of South Stony Island Avenue when they heard shots and felt pain, police said.

They drove to Mercy Hospital, where both were listed in good condition, police said. A 25-year-old man, who has gang affiliations, was shot in the wrist and a 35-year-old man was shot in the shoulder.

As of Friday morning, no one was in custody for any of the shootings, which remain under investigation.
