2 Cops, Motorist Hurt In Squad Car Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) - Three people, including two police officers, were hurt when a squad car fish-tailed and crashed into a minivan early Sunday in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

Two female police officers were headed southbound on Laramie Avenue about 12:15 a.m. when the vehicle began to fish-tail, then struck a Dodge Caravan minivan and a parked vehicle near Augusta Boulevard, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said. The officers were responding to a report of a man with a gun at the time of the crash.

Both officers were taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park while the female driver of the Dodge was taken to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, Greer said. All three had been treated and released by 5 a.m. Sunday.

No citations were issued, and it was not immediately known what caused the squad car to fish-tail.
