1 Killed, 1 Wounded In Englewood Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A gunman opened fire on two men standing on a Englewood corner Wednesday night, killing one while nicking the other, police said.

Police said the two were standing on the corner of Marquette Road and Sangamon Street about 10:10 p.m. when a male shooter approached on foot and fired shots. The shooter then escaped on foot.

One of the men, a 22-year old who was a known gang member, was dead on the scene after he was struck by multiple bullets, police said. The other man, 24, escaped with a graze wound to the leg and was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital for treatment.

An official for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said he could not confirm that the 22-year-old had been killed.

No one was in custody as Area South detectives investigated.
