Eddie Robert Simmons, 21, of the 3400 block of West 5th Avenue; Ahmed Martinez Walker, 18, of the 700 block of West 50th Place; and Matthew Cobbs, 20, of the 2700 block of North Francisco, were each charged with one count of first-degree murder in connection with a shooting that left 27-year-old Nacurvie Smith dead.
A #147/Outer Drive Express bus got a flat tire around 5:45 a.m. near Division Street. The bus pulled over, and soon after, passengers reported smoke in the back of the bus. The bus driver evacuated all passengers. The entire back half of the articulated bus was gutted by the fire.
