The Baseball Reporters Show Recap 6/16

Tony Massarotti talked about Manny Ramirez on today's show and his return to Boston on Friday night. Will you cheer? Will you boo? Tony doesn't care, he just wants you to be consistent. If you cheered him while he was here, and boo him on Friday night, then that is the height of hypocrisy.

Mazz on Manny's return, "If you cheered him I don't see where now all of a sudden you can decide to boo him on Friday night. I just think that is the height of hypocrisy. You knew what he was when he was here. You knew to the Nth degree what he was and what he represented. You chose then to support and cheer for a guy who takes games off, quits on his team from time to time, because he remains one of the most gifted right handed batters to ever step foot in a batter's box. But we all recognized what he was".

Bill in the car thinks Tony has lost his mind when he called into the show. For Bill, there is no moral code of conduct for a fan. You cheer for your guys and boo their guys. It's that simple.

Tony Mazz reiterates that your decision to either cheer or boo Manny Ramirez on Friday night says a lot about you as a fan and what you endorse.

Mazz on cheering or booing,"All I am asking people to do is just think it out a little. What are you looking to endorse here? Do you want the guys who play hard all the time or do you want the guys who produce? Because that is really what is at the core of this issue with Manny Ramirez. He did not play hard. He quit on them. In '06 he flat out quit. But, there are no World Series in '04 and '07 without Manny".

So for those of you reading this article who have tickets for Friday night's game, do Mazz a favor. Think it out a little. Either you cheer Manny and be grateful for all that he did for Boston despite being a pain in the neck. Or, you boo Manny and let the world know that you won't put up with that sort of behavior again even if it means sacrificing championships. The choice is yours. For Tony, he'll take the championships.
