Preview: Dan Roche Sits Down With Red Sox Manager John Farrell

BOSTON (CBS) - Red Sox manager John Farrell is a popular man after leading his squad to the 2013 World Series title, but he found some time to join WBZ-TV's Dan Roche for an exclusive 1-on-1 interview for Sunday's edition of Sports Final.

Farrell covered a number of topics from the series clincher last week to the phone calls he received after the victory. Farrell received a call from President Barack Obama on Tuesday, but said there was one call that stood above them all -- from former Boston manager Terry Francona.

"I think it has to come from Tito, honestly. He has won two, and having been able to stand beside him for one of them it was a meaningful moment," said Farrell, who won a title with Boston in 2007 as the team's pitching coach under Francona. "We've shared a lot along the way, and to have him reach out means a lot to me personally."

That's not to say his talk with Obama wasn't special.

"That's not one you're going to get very often," he said of his phone call from the president. "Here you are having a casual conversation with the president. It was very relaxed; he knew all about Uehara and Ortiz. He knew about everything that has transpired this year.

"The one thing we talked about, because when he gave his address at the church following the tragedy on April 15th, he said in that speech that hopefully at the end of the year there would be a parade. I mentioned it to him, because it was almost like he had more foresight than anyone else when it came to our season this year," said Farrell.
