MARLBORO (CBS) -- He's one of the best in the barbecue business.
"I've been all around the country, competed with all the best of the best, and I would put my barbecue up against anyone else," says Steve Uliss. "We do it the right way."
And at Firefly's BBQ, Uliss, the owner, has been smoking up the good stuff for fifteen slow-smoked, sauce-smothered years.
"Firefly's BBQ is the most bodacious barbecue restaurant in all of New England," he says.
Located on Route 20 in Marlboro, this 9,000-square-foot spot is where those in the know always go for perfect pulled pork and award-winning ribs.
"We use the best quality meats that are available," Uliss says. "We make all of our own dry rubs, so we dry rub our meat, we marinate our meat, we smoke it over hickory, cherry, and apple woods, for long periods of time. Low and slow is the key. We use our barbecue sauce as a condiment, not as something that is to cover up the quality of the meat. We really do barbecue the right way."
And the Firefly's menu goes well beyond barbecue, with burgers and wings, pizzas and po' boys, and golden and crispy southern fried chicken.
"A good friend of mine said once, 'if you're gonna taste something, and you don't want to go back for a second bite, then don't waste your time.' And that's what we believe in right here," said Uliss. "When you come to Firefly's and you experience the food, I want you to feel the passion and the care and the love that's gone in to create what we do here, and I guarantee you're gonna be blown away."
