Newton Walgreens Employee Interrupts Pharmacy Robbery

NEWTON (CBS) - It happened quickly at a Walgreens Pharmacy.

A robber with a knife jumped over the drug store counter, confronting the pharmacist and frightening a terrified clerk.

Police say the suspect forced the druggist over to the locked narcotics cabinet and rifled through it, stealing and bagging the drugs.

All of this was caught of video.

But it doesn't end there - a 67-year-old employee heard the commotion and saw the robbery happening.

The man got on the store's public address system and called for someone to call 911. Then, the robber attacked him.

The suspect punched and kicked the man before fleeing the store.

That man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are now searching for the robber. He is seen in the surveillance video wearing a blue Patriots hoodie and is more than six feet tall.

If you recognize him, call the Newton Police.
