MIT Study: Human Brain Can Process Images In 13 Milliseconds

BOSTON (CBS) --- How quickly can the human brain recognize images?  That's the question a team of MIT neuroscientists asked before completing their latest study.

Researchers have found the human brain can process entire images that the eye sees for as little as 13 milliseconds — the first evidence of such rapid processing speed.

In the past, it was believed the human brain could only process images in 100 milliseconds.

The new study appears in the journal Attention, Perception, and Psychophysics.
