Gov. Patrick in Afghanistan as trip continues
Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick is visiting National Guard troops in Afghanistan. The Democrat told reporters Friday he and four fellow governors traveled to Kabul after spending two days in Iraq and Kuwait. He says they then met with Massachusetts soldiers at Camp Phoenix and received a briefing from Gen. David Petraeus, who is leading the U.S. effort.
Patrick is making the goodwill trip with Republican Govs. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota, Mike Rounds of South Dakota and Jim Douglas of Vermont, and fellow Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon of Missouri.
