If you are one of the masses planning to call it quits and start fresh, this list of 'Best Bars for a Break-Up' is just for you (unless, of course, you'd rather do it in private or by text message, or by Twitter, or by... well, we'll save Facebook for later).
Logan Airport Terminal A
Post-security by gate 6
This hip "Rat Pack" lounge atmosphere is comfortable, but not too comfortable. So maybe you'll get lucky and the break-up will go well. If not, you can make a quick getaway (assuming your flight isn't delayed). Might we suggest a trip to the city dubbed number one in the country for finding a date last year? Delta Airlines flies out of Terminal A, where Lucky's is located, and offers a whole mess of non-stop flights to Atlanta.
THE MESSY BREAK-UP
150 Northern Avenue
Boston, MA 02210
Whiskey Priest offers more than 100 different types of whiskey. That's all we have to say about that.
31 India St
(between Commercial St & Custom House St)
Boston, MA 02110
An Tain is a dive - dark, drafty, and dumpy. It sets the mood perfectly. Also, two words: dollar drafts. Whether it's financially or emotionally, you've probably invested a lot into this relationship. And quite frankly, you don't feel like dropping another dime on it. But, since it's customary to foot the bill if you're doing the dumping, you might as well keep it cheap.
THE BOOZE-FREE OPTION
165 Tremont St
Boston, MA 02111
Your soon-to-be ex is about to have plenty to think about. Since alcohol isn't always a good decision, why not try this quaint coffee shop across the street from Boston Common. Thinking Cup's leather benches, exposed brick walls and newspaper-covered tables combined with a warm cup of coffee can help curtail some of those icy feelings that are about to emerge over the break-up.
THE QUICK TURNAROUND
82 Lansdowne Street
For the types who get over a break up really quickly, Game On is good place for that. We aren't going to comment on their slogan "Eat, Drink, Score," but Game On certainly boasts a decent food and beer menu and plenty of TVs to take your mind off things. When there's a Boston sports team playing, this bar is typically buzzing with a diverse group of Bostonians - plenty of whom we assume are single.
THE MOVIE BREAK-UP & THE FACEBOOK STATUS (all-in-one)
Thirsty Scholar Pub
If you're in need of some Hollywood-type inspiration, the Thirsty Scholar Pub is the place. Cut to the opening scene of The Social Network (a.k.a. The Facebook Movie), which was filmed here:
Mark Zuckerberg: We're dating.
Erica Albright: Okay. Well, I want to try and be straight forward with you and let you know that we're not anymore.
Mark Zuckerberg: What d..?
Erica Albright: We're not dating anymore. I'm sorry.
Mark Zuckerberg: Is this a joke?
Erica Albright: No, it's not.
Mark Zuckerberg: You're breaking up with me?
We recommend ending the scene here.
And we're actually killing two birds with one stone at this bar, because, when the break-up is complete, there's really no better place to grab a beer at the bar, hop on your phone, and change your Facebook status to "single."
