Body Scanners Help Shoppers Find The Right Fit

MARLBORO (CBS) - Body scanners are popping up at local malls, but the machines have nothing to do with national security.

WBZ-TV's Paula Ebben tried out the Me-Ality kiosk at the Solomon Pond Mall in Marlboro.

It scans your body, and then directs you to the right store. Frustrated shoppers like Wendy Mastrangelo of Sudbury say they're willing to give it a try if it makes shopping easier

"How frustrating is it to go and try on clothes time and time and time again, and go back to the rack, back the dressing room, back to the rack. I don't have time for that," she says. "I'm a mom."

So how does it work? 196 antennas detect the moisture on your skin, while your fully clothed, and read the exact proportions of your body.

Every shopper gets a personal print out of where to find the best fitting jeans or pants in the mall.

Me-Ality will soon expand to tops, dresses and even intimate apparel. And men can also get some help finding the right fit.

If you don't find what you want at the mall, the company will send you an email with all the other options that you will find at other retailers, which will really take the guess work out of online shopping.
