Days 33-34: Obama Hosts Governors At The White House

(AP)

The most notable event for President Obama over the weekend was a black tie dinner he hosted at the White House for the nation's governors, who were in Washington for the National Governors Association meeting.

"Our goal and aim is to make sure that we are making life easier, and not harder, for you during the time that we're here in Washington," Mr. Obama said during the event.

There were no other public events on the president's schedule, but he as always released an address on Saturday morning on radio and the Web. In the address, he touted the benefits of the $787 billion economic stimulus package which he signed into law last week.

"Because of what we did together, there will now be shovels in the ground, cranes in the air, and workers rebuilding our crumbling roads and bridges, and repairing our faulty levees and dams," Mr. Obama said. "But as important as it was that I was able to sign this plan into law, it is only a first step on the road to economic recovery. And we can't fail to complete the journey."
