Podparency

Our buddies over at Lost Remote have a positive review of the first installment. "It profiled CNN correspondent Nic Robertson as he shot a video diary of himself in Darfur as an angry mob attacked his car," writes Cory Bergman. "I remembered seeing the story on CNN…but watching Robertson set up the story and then see it all play out unedited was some of the most compelling video I've witnessed. Of course, we'll wait and see if All Access can still be interesting without incredible video."
Podcasts are meant to attract a younger audience – David Payne, senior vice president and general manager of CNN.com, says they were designed to appeal to the "fast-paced lifestyles and varied interests" of young people. (In other words, the same traditionally news-averse folks who read the free mini-newspapers that get handed out at subway stations.) They're certainly aggressively targeting the demo: One podcast, an "irreverent" Daily Show wannabe centered around video clips, has a host who Mediaweek notes "wore his shirt untucked and volunteered to belch the Greek alphabet" in preview clips.
And no, it's not Bob Novak.
