Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin says his 22nd season in the NHL will be his last.
Ovechkin and the Capitals inked a deal with a $1 million salary and bonuses worth an additional $8 million.
This is believed to be the first time the government of Qatar is investing in U.S. professional sports.
Longtime Alex Ovechkin running mate Nicklas Backstrom and big winger Tom Wilson are expected to miss at least the first portion of the season recovering from injuries.
