One of the Orioles' best players is suspended starting now. Major League Baseball upheld a five-game suspension for third baseman Manny Machado.
Steve Pearce hit two of Baltimore's four home runs off Joe Saunders and Ubaldo Jimenez ended a run of nine winless starts as the Orioles defeated the Texas Rangers 7-1 Monday night.
Although Justice described the outcome of Machado's suspension as "fair," he also stood firm on Machado reaching his full potential in the majors. "There were periods last year where [Manny] was one of the best five players in baseball. We have to keep in mind that he's 22 years old."
