Zero to Hero Anyone?

One of the stories leading up to the NFL draft was super talented but troubled wide receiver Dez Bryant. As we all know now, Dez fell and fell down the draft board and now wears a star on his helmet. With all the pre draft negative chatter surrounding Dez Bryant isn't it fitting that the post draft conversation involves him aswell but now surprisingly enough as the victim. Immature and Dez Bryant were linked together all too often before the draft. 4 days removed from the 3 day spectacle that was the NFL Draft, and Dez Bryant, as I've heard it said, has taken the high road. As has been reported, Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland asked Dez if his mother was a prostitute. The inappropriate question was asked during the Scouting Combine as the Dolphins were seeing if their interest in Dez was enough to warrant a first round draft pick. I understand that when selecting players, character becomes a huge issue as your team is making a big investment. All too often in this league players with huge amounts of talent throw it all away by making a bad decision off of the field. As with players like Jamarcus Russell, a players immaturity and lack of preparation causes them to make bad decisions on the field. With all these factors do I believe a man has the right to ask another man if his mom's a prostitute? No Nope No and No. Though I can understand the thought process and why the team felt the answer to that question was important, I do feel ultimately it's still a line that shouldn't be crossed. At the end of the day, these men play a game. And no game is important enough where a personal issue like this becomes everybody's business. How quickly opinions change. Dare I say, Dez Bryant is now the guy everybody is pulling for? Huh?
