Would you pay Six Million Dollars for a win?
That's what the Oakland Raiders did. The Raiders cut former #1 overall pick in the draft QB JaMarcus Russell yesterday. He won seven games as Raiders QB and made $39 million. That works out to over $6 million a win. Looking back, Russell may be the biggest bust in NFL draft history. People will bring up names like Akili Smith, Ryan Leaf , and Tony Mandarich will be brought up in comparison, but none of them were the number one pick in the draft. Only Tim Couch could possibly compare because he was also #1 overall. The Raiders almost kept him too but Russell allegedly showed up to Raiders minicamp at about 290lbs. Russell will surely get a second chance but I hope he invested wisely because he wont see another $39 million anytime soon.
