Worth a Look?
There's a .200 hitter available that might help the anemic Orioles. The Blue Jays Edwin Encarcion was designated for assignment on Monday. Their GM says it's unlikely he'll be claimed on waivers because his remaining tab for this year
is around $3-Mil.
Encarnacion is only 27 and average at best with the glove, but the guy can hit the long ball. He has 9 this year and came off the DL earlier this season and hit 5 bombs in 6 games. Last year he hit 13 in 293 at bats, in 2008 he hit 26 homers.
If he doesn't get claimed word is the Blue Jays would trade him for a mid level prospect. A 27-year old home run hitter with a .257 career average isn't chopped liver for a team that can't score runs. Explore Andy explore!
