Woman Killed Trying To Help Man She Struck
CRUMPTON, Md. (AP) -- State police say a woman was killed after stopping to help a pedestrian she had hit with her car in Queen Anne's County. The man she struck was hit a second time and also died.
Police have identified the victims as Megan Pulleyn, 26, of Millington and Thomas Gustafson, 57, of Chestertown.
The accident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday on Route 544 in Crumpton. Police say Pulleyn struck Gustafson, a hunter who was walking in the roadway. She stopped her car and began walking toward him while calling 911.
As she was trying to help him, they were both struck by a sport-utility vehicle.
Pulleyn died at the scene, and Gustafson was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where he died. The driver of the SUV was not injured.
